1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda Engine Specifications

In 1970 the Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda came with only one engine.

For the 1970 Plymouth AAR ‘Cuda, the 340 Six Barrel engine was the standard engine. No other engine options were available. The engine was rated at 290 horsepower at 5,000 RPM and 345 ft. lbs. of torque at 3,400 RPM. The compression ratio was 10.5:1 and it had three 2 barrel carburetors.

The 340 Six Barrel was the only engine for the 1970 AAR ‘Cuda. This was the first and only year for the AAR ‘Cuda and the 340 Six Barrel engine.

There were some differences between the 340 Six Barrel and the 340 4 barrel. The Six Barrel had the following:

  • Three 2 barrel Holley carburetors.
  • Edelbrok aluminum intake manifold.
  • The block was reinforced with additional material in the main bearing webs so racers could modify it to 4 bolt mains.
  • Cylinder head castings were modified (pushrods holes) so racers could expand the ports.
  • The valve train used different rockers (adjustable and offset) and pushrods (longer) to accommodate the heads.
